Submit to deviantART Directly From SketchBook Apps
DeviantART is proud to announce that SketchBook users on iPad and Android tablets now have the ability to create and submit art directly from their devices to deviantART!
Our recent partnership with Autodesk has allowed deviantART to become the first community integrated into SketchBook -- the professional-grade painting app that is easy to use for every artist. Merging these two powerhouse environments means that tablet users will be able to publish their creations from SketchBook directly to their deviantART accounts. Deviants will also be able to use the app to browse the inspirational works of other SketchBook artists in the @autodesk-
Thank you all for the caring words and understanding on my last post. I might not be able reply to each and every comment, but I did read all of them and they helped me a lot. It’s somehow very calming to know that despite being strangers on the internet, we are all capable of empathy, and that connection despite the distance is one of the many beauties of life. Thank you all again for being there when I’ve lost myself.
With the new year looming, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about everything that has happened, where my priorities are, and how to live a more balanced life. A lot has happened. Successes and failures.

Pai's Print Shop -- Now Open!
I finally opened my store!
After months of having to put it off for this or that reason, I finally have my print shop up! It has every one of my existing prints available, which includes some art I’ve never posted online. Though mostly fanart (a lot of Tales of, and there are other fandoms in there too!), I have a couple of originals available as well!
Each print is A4 size, shipped flat in a hard envelope backed by cardboard, and I do combined shipping for no additional charge. Shipping is also free within the US! Additionally, every order includes a hand-written thank you note from me with a small doodle--I believe there’s a fi
I received an email soliciting artwork for the second volume of"The Fantasy Illustration Library: Gods and Goddesses”.
The jist of it was: Pick your god or goddess! Make art for us! After we get all the art, we’ll try to do a Kickstarter to produce the book and if we make enough money, we might pay the artists! Don’t pay attention to the un-affordable nature of the book’s price point ($100) because we’ll totally pay you royalties!!
This brand of “proposal” is predatory, dishonest, and frankly incompetent. (And art budget for an art book?? Who’d ever even think of that!) People who organize b
How fear motivates my art. by Suzanne-Helmigh, journal
How fear motivates my art.
:bulletred: When I first saw Jurassic Park in 1993 I was four years old. The animatronics they build had me convinced real and the cinematography was amazing. All from the toilet scene to the dismembered arm to the kitchen scare had me high on adrenaline. This was the first time I had felt scared enough to pee my pants but I loved it! The fact that these dinosaurs were scaring me was the same reason why I was so fascinated by them. The oldest toys I can remember were tiny plastic dinosaurs and my bed sheets had a lovely 'Land before time.' print on it. Every day of my childhood life was dedicated to dinosaurs (and perhaps a bit of Indiana Jon
The Key to keeping yourself motivated properly. by Suzanne-Helmigh, journal
The Key to keeping yourself motivated properly.
Let me start off with telling you what motivation is and why you need it.
A motivation is a reason behind doing something a certain way to work yourself up to a certain goal. Just having a goal but no understanding of how to get there, means you have no way to motivate yourself and your goal will be hard to reach.
Therefore motivation is needed desperately in order to become truly good at something.
The motivation to eat is the feeling for hunger and the end goal of ending the hunger and feeling healthy and energized. This type of motivation is a feeling.
Which brings me to: Intrinsic motivation and Extrinsic motivation.

Hey guys!
I've really been into speed painting lately, so I wanted to challenge myself. And also you!
The idea of a speed painting is that you take a limited amount of time for a painting. This can be half an hour, or up to two hours, depending how much time you have (and are willing to spend). During that time you make a painting, or get as far as possible. When you reach the time limit, the painting is done. No getting back to it. No cheating. It's done.
How?:bulletred: Use any medium. I use digital, because it's fast and clean. But you can use traditional as well.
:bulletred: Use references if needed. Don't forget; References are GOOD!!!
So I've seen this quite often now on the Internet and thought I'd try it too.^^

Witchhunts among artists. by Suzanne-Helmigh, journal
Witchhunts among artists.
I was very reluctant on writing this journal, as I often just want to inspire and write uplifting things. This topic is a little less so.
:bulletblue: Witches! The word 'Witchhunt' comes from a time were some women got accused for being witches because of their beauty or their way to modern way of living (being a single mother or non-christian in times where that was absolutely outrageous). Those women would get ridiculous tests to proof their humanity from which they ultimately would die (burning on the fire stake or getting drowned in a river.) The fact that they did not survive it would proof that they are human and not a witch. We all kno
